Accessibility Statement

Last updated: 7 May 2026 · Version 1.0

Universal Gaskets Pty Ltd is committed to making this website usable for as many people as possible, including engineers, procurement officers, plant operators, and anyone else who relies on assistive technology to read technical documentation. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA and we treat accessibility as part of how the site is built, not as an afterthought.

1. Conformance Target

We aim for WCAG 2.1 Level AA conformance across all customer-facing pages. This is the standard most commonly referenced under the Disability Discrimination Act 1992 (Cth) and is the level expected by Australian Government procurement.

2. What We Build For

  • Keyboard-only navigation across every interactive element, with a visible focus ring on each control.
  • Screen-reader-friendly heading structure, landmark regions, and image alt text on every meaningful image.
  • Colour contrast ratios that meet or exceed 4.5:1 for body text and 3:1 for large text under our active site theme.
  • Resizable text up to 200% without loss of content or function.
  • Tables and technical diagrams that include text-equivalent descriptions where the visual alone would be insufficient.

3. Known Limitations

We're working in public, and the site is not fully conformant in every place yet. Known issues we are actively addressing:

  • A small number of older interactive diagrams render their content as inline SVG without full text-equivalent annotations. Replacements are scheduled.
  • The interactive material-lookup tool is keyboard-navigable but its advanced filter panel is denser than the rest of the site and benefits from screen-magnifier use.
  • Some legacy PDF resources have not been remediated for screen-reader compatibility. We are progressively replacing these with HTML equivalents.

4. How to Report an Accessibility Issue

If something on this site is hard or impossible to use with your assistive technology, we want to know — even if it isn't on the list above. Please email sales@universalgaskets.com.au with the subject line "Website accessibility issue" and tell us:

  • The URL of the page where you encountered the problem.
  • What you were trying to do.
  • The assistive technology, browser, and operating system you were using if you know them.

We will acknowledge your report within two business days and aim to resolve confirmed issues within 20 business days, or sooner where the issue blocks core functionality.

5. Assessment Approach

The site is assessed through a combination of automated checks (axe-core in CI), keyboard-only testing, screen-reader passes (NVDA on Windows and VoiceOver on macOS), and manual review against the WCAG 2.1 AA success criteria. We do not currently commission third-party formal audits — when we do, the report will be linked from this page.

6. Statement Currency

This statement was last updated on 7 May 2026. We review it whenever a substantial site change ships and at least once per year.
