NBR for standard diesel; FKM for biodiesel blends above B20 (20% biodiesel content). AdBlue (32.5% urea solution) is aggressive — PTFE for dosing and injection lines, EPDM for static storage tank gaskets only. Do not use NBR or HNBR with AdBlue: urea crystallisation will cause premature seal failure.

Chemical Compatibility

No single elastomer suits every agricultural chemical. EPDM fails with petroleum-based crop oils. NBR fails with ketone solvents. FKM fails with anhydrous ammonia. Always verify material compatibility against the specific chemical SDS. Our chemical compatibility database covers over 200 media.

Standards & Certifications

Agricultural sealing spans multiple regulatory frameworks depending on the end use. Irrigation kit tied to town water must pass AS/NZS 4020. Dairy and wine-production equipment requires FDA 21 CFR compliance. Below are the standards we supply materials against — documentation is available on request for audits and certifications.

AS/NZS 4020:2018 (Amd 1:2022)

We supply AS/NZS 4020:2018 (Amd 1:2022) compliant EPDM for every potable water contact point (pump flanges, tank fittings, float valve seals), with compliance certificates available on request. Amendment 1 added NDMA testing for chloraminated water service.

AS 4087:2011

Metallic flanges for waterworks. Current standard for irrigation infrastructure flanges. Pressure ratings: PN 14/16, PN 21, PN 35.

AS 2129:2000

Flanges for pipes, valves, and fittings. Common in older irrigation and processing plants. Tables A, D, E flanges suit soft gasket materials.

FDA 21 CFR 177.2600

We supply FDA 21 CFR 177.2600-compliant elastomers for dairy milking equipment, wine production, and on-farm food processing. Material certificates traceable to batch and grade.

3-A Sanitary Standards

We cut tri-clamp and flange gaskets to 3-A profiles (flush interior surfaces, CIP-resistant compounds), with conformance documentation on request.

SAE J518 / ISO 6162

Hydraulic four-bolt split flange connections. Code 61 to 20.7 MPa, Code 62 to 41.4 MPa. Standard on tractors and harvesters.

ASTM D2000

Standard classification for rubber products by heat ageing resistance and oil swell. Used to specify gasket material grades for agricultural equipment.

AS 2628:2010

Gas-tight sealed containers for grain fumigation and insect control. Specifies phosphine half-life pressure testing and sealing requirements for bunkers, silos, and field bins used with fumigants.

AS 1210:2010

Pressure vessels. Covers compressed air receivers on farms and pressure vessels in dairy processing. Inspection every 2–4 years.

IEC 60529 (IP Ratings)

Ingress Protection code. Agricultural equipment increasingly specified to IP67+ for dust-tight and water-immersion protection.
